Our Centre

Snugglepotts Children’s Centre will provide for families and their children a nurturing, home away from home environment, which is an extension of the child’s family structure.

Our centre will partner with families in the vital role of care and education for children, focusing on developing a sense of trust, well-being, security and love.

The centre will provide a nurturing play based environment enhancing each child’s social emotional, physical, intellectual and creative development in an environment that is open ended, child focused, stimulating and meaningful. Spontaneous play will be encouraged as well as parental and teacher input. Our focus is to develop positive, open, honest and trusting partnerships with families to ensure that we maintain continuity of care for each child that attends the centre.

Vision Statement

We are a partnership; the centre, the family, early childhood staff and children collaborating as a learning community.

The Snugglepotts vision places an emphasis on the context of the child, the family, and the centre environment. Our vision is for children to experience the natural/real world around them through the essence of play, whilst feeling secure, nurtured and educated within the centre environment. Our philosophy is influenced by, and based on, the sound principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for Australia, along with a socio-cultural view on development (Urie Bronfenbrenner). Our centre shares the same vision as the United Nations (UN) Rights For the Child Article 29 (Goals of education): ‘Children’s education should develop each child’s personality, talents and abilities to the fullest. It should encourage children to respect others, human rights and their own and other cultures. It should also help them learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people’.

Principles and practices that best support our vision/philosophy and the developmental needs of the children at Snugglepotts are based on the core principles, practices and outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for Australia which include:

  • The centre provides a nurturing home away from home environment.
  • Friendships and partnerships with families are valued and encouraged.
  • A child’s life is shaped by the daily interactions and communication with parents, early childhood staff, children, and the community surrounding the child’s life.
  • Early Childhood Staff are role models, facilitators, nurturers and the implementers of stimulating early childhood play environments.
